Bed & Breakfast Accommodation plus Guesthouses

Upcott House

Upcott Hill, Okehampton EX20 1SQ, UK – 01837 53743

Good owners fantastic building and kocation

The couple who run this place were really friendly and helpful in terms of telling us what was going on in town and in the surrounding area. It's also a beautiful house and the breakfast was top notch!

Okeside Cottage B&B

7 New Rd, Okehampton EX20 1JE, UK – 01837 55363

We were immensely impressed with this B&B. Located on the riverside and on a fairly quiet road, it is unassuming from the outside but simply one of the most comfortable and thoughtfully-serviced places we have ever stayed. From the incredible attention to detail in the room (proper ground coffee and a cafetiere, an extension for chargers, chocolate bourbons!) to the generous variety of the breakfast menu (coeliac/veggie-friendly and all delicious), we were bowled over by the care our hosts had taken to ensure our stay was happy and well-worth the money. The incredibly detailed guest book was brilliant and gave us so much useful information on the area and options available to us and the cleanliness was utterly superb. We heartily recommend for a romantic getaway or as a cosy hub for Devonshire adventures.

Lovely cosy clean and comfortable. Friendly hosts. And superb breakfast

YHA Okehampton Youth Hostel

Klondyke Rd, Okehampton EX20 1EW, UK – 01837 53916

Nice location and interesting bit history. Got a single room for around £20 very good with special offer. Friendly staff. Welcome brake from wild camping on Dartmoor in winter with a wisdom tooth infection pooch. Only let down was shower was not even warm I sure I was using it correctly. They also have a camping area. There are plugs in the rooms for charging your gear. There is also a camping area. I would and think will stay here again next time I'm down.

We stayed here with a large group, who rented the hostel for the weekend. I couldn't fault it: There were lots of smaller dorms of about 4 or 6 beds, which we preferred to the hostels that have a smaller number of much larger dormitories. The hostel was perfectly clean and had everything we needed. We catered for ourselves, so we didn't get to try the hostels own catering options, but we looked at the menus and prices and on the strength of those we would definitely return to this hostel as regular backpacking visitors. A very good hostel.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
